Can I wear Proof postpartum undies if I’ve had a c-section?
Proof postpartum undies are suitable to use after a vaginal delivery or caesarean section. Whether you’ve delivered vaginally or via caesarean section, you’ll likely experience some level of postpartum bleeding. This bleeding is completely normal, and is caused by the uterus shedding its lining. This leaking can last for weeks, so it’s important to be prepared. Proof undies pull moisture away from the body and into our unique, super absorbent core - helping you to stay dry and comfortable.

Should I order a size up in Proof postpartum undies?
When buying postpartum underwear, it’s important to note that your body will be undergoing a tremendous amount of change in the first few weeks after delivery. Proof postpartum underwear is designed with soft, breathable stretch fabric that moves with you and accommodates for your changing body.
Most mamas find they are comfortable in their typical size - but when in doubt, check out our size guide for a perfect fit. If you are in between sizes, we recommend purchasing the size you are wearing at the end of pregnancy, and one in a size down for after delivery.
Are Proof leakproof undies washable?
Washing Proof postpartum underwear is easy! Proof undies feature strong protection, but should be washed gently. Simply toss in the washing machine on a delicate cycle, using cold water and mild detergents. Hang or lay flat to dry. No washing machine? Hand washing in cold water with a gentle detergent works great, too!
More helpful tips to care for your pair:
-Don’t wring or twist your undies - be gentle when washing Proof
-Hot water, harsh detergents, and bleach can damage the absorbent technology in Proof undies, so be sure to use cold water and mild detergent
-Hang or lay flat to dry - do not put in the dryer
-Proof undies have a super absorbent core that can take between 6 and 24 hours to dry. Heavier absorbency pairs have more layers of absorbent material, and will take longer to dry than our light pairs. To expedite the drying process, blot away excess moisture from the gusset before laying flat or hanging to dry.
-Want a refresh? To make your period undies fresh and remove any lingering odor, use a few drops of vinegar or tea tree oil during the rinse cycle of your wash - voila! So fresh and so clean.
Can I wear my Proof postpartum undies beyond the postpartum period?
Oh yes! We think that once you try Proof, you’ll find it hard to go back to normal undies. Ultra-comfortable fabric with built-in protection is pretty hard to beat, after all. You may find you want to size down after the postpartum phase, or try one of our lighter absorbency styles to suit your body’s needs. Don’t forget to hang on to your postpartum undies for the first post-baby period - because that flow can be a real mother!
How long do you wear postpartum underwear?
On average, postpartum bleeding will last around six weeks. However, you may find that your bleeding and/or discharge may last longer after you have given birth. We recommend wearing Proof while you recover from birth, to absorb bleeding and help you to feel fresh and dry, without that uncomfortable diaper feeling that disposable underwear and pads may give you!
How many pairs of postpartum underwear should I buy?
We recommend stocking up enough so that you won’t have to wash your underwear each night - because that little bundle of joy will make a surprising amount of laundry already! On average, one pair of underwear at the correct absorbency level will be sufficient for a 12 hour period of wear, and after that can be changed as you would normally change underwear before bed or after showering and changing clothes. Four pairs of underwear for daytime, and another four pairs for sleep, should allow you to be protected and comfortable without additional laundry days!
Should I wear low cut or high rise underwear postpartum?
Low cut or high rise, it’s up to you! Our higher rise pairs feature more tummy compression and coverage, which could help you to feel more protected after birth. However, many women appreciate the flexibility and stretch of a low rise pair. Whichever you choose, be sure to base your selection on absorbency, to protect from postpartum bleeding.
Is Proof underwear better than wearing pads for postpartum?
Pads, disposable underwear, adult diapers and Proof all provide some level of protection from bleeding. However, pads shift in place and add bulk beneath clothing, disposable undies and diapers feel like… well… diapers! Proof underwear keep you really (really) dry, fresh, and protected while looking like regular undies for an added dose of comfort and confidence after delivery.
Do I need pads when wearing Proof postpartum undies?
It’s a motherhood miracle: Proof undies provide built-in protection, so there’s no pads needed! Proof underwear can replace disposable pads and pantyliners and absorb up to 5 regular tampons worth of liquid - that’s 10 teaspoons!
How does Proof handle blood clots with postpartum bleeding?
Proof's unique multi-layered core pulls in moisture and absorbs liquid. Much like a pad, blood clots and solid discharge will remain on the top layer of Proof, while moisture is pulled into the core.
